There are two different methods available to plan your system:

The Hierarchical Method - This design is based on several levels of authorization, in which higher levels are authorised to open lower levels. Usually the highest level is related to the Grand Master (GM) key which can open every cylinder in the system, and the lowest levels are related to keys that can open only a single cylinder. Mul-T-Lock offers KEY8 software that makes planning and managing your system really simple.

The Matrix Method - Another way of designing a Master key system is by using a matrix chart. Each column represents a cylinder and each row represents a key holder. The customer makes the cylinder that
each key holder is allowed to open.
